a Congregational minister, was born at Auburn, Mass., March 6,1812. He studied at Phillips Academy, Andover, graduated from Amherst College in 1837, and four years after from the East Windsor Theological Seminary. He was ordained at Ware, June 22, 1842, of which church he was pastor until 1851, when he became professor of ecclesiastical history and the pastoral charge in the East Windsor Seminary, retaining that position until 1853. On September 1 of that year he was installed pastor of the Church at Lee, and died in Newburyport, September 18, 1876. Among his published works are, Pilgrims' First Year in New England (1857): Memoir of Rev. Bennett Tyler, D.D. (1859): Conversion Through Personal Effort (866): Prophet of the Highest (1873).
