a German hymnist, was born August 28, 1792, at Knolelsdorf, in Saxony. He was professor at Bonn in 1828, and died at Tubingen, November 18, 1852. He published, Bluthen religiosen Sinnes (Heidelberg, 1821; 3d. ed. 1843): — Luther und seine Zeitgenossen (Leipsic, 1827): — Simon Dach und seine Freunde (Tubingen, 1828): — Erbauliches und Beschauliches aus Germ. Tersteegen ausgewahlt (Stuttgart, 1845): — Heilige Seelenlust Geistliche Lieder und Spruche von Spee, angelus Silesius und Novalis (ibid. 1845).
