He assembled, in the first year of his patriarchate, a council to anathematize the sectaries; at this council were present Paisi, the patriarch of Alexandria and Macarius of Antioch; its principal motions are inscribed in the Slorngebuik, or missal of 1668. There are extant of his works, a pastoral letter (1668): another directed to the sectaries, entitled Gezl Pravlenia (reprinted in 1753): an Instruction on the Manner of Painting the Images (1668): and another on The Manner of Behaving One's Self at the Church (reprinted at Moscow in 1786). He died February 17, 1672. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
