(Heb. Mlara', מָרָא, for מָרָה, bitter, as explained in the context; Sept. πικρία Vulg. Matrl, id est amara), a symbolical name proposed for herself by Naomi on account of her misfortunes (Ruth 1:20). (See RUTH).
