Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a form originally adopted everywhere in the A. V. (in the edition of 1611) for the present familiar name RACHEL (See RACHEL) (q.v.), but retained in our present Bible only in Jeremiah 31:15, apparently by a mere oversight of the later editors.
