a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Lincoln County, N.C., Jan. 28, 1785, converted in 1806, admitted on trial in 1809, into full connection in 1811, and filled the following appointments: Great Peedee Circuit, 1809; Bladen, 1810; Little Peedee, 1811; Buncombe, 1812; Sparta, 1813; Georgetown, 1814; Charleston, 1815; and presiding elder of the Broad River District, 1816-17. He died Dec. 23, 1817. A strong mind and a benevolent heart, a single eye and a steady purpose to glorify God, an unwavering faith, fervent love, and burning zeal — these were the exalted attributes of this good man.
