(Heb. Sheshan', ]שֵׁשָׁ , lily [Gesen.] or noble [Furst]; Sept. Σωσάν v.r. Σωσάμ, a "son" of Ishi and "father" of Ahlai or Atlai, among the descendants of Jerahmeel the son of Hezron; being a representative of one of the chief families of Judah, who, in consequence. of the failure of male issue, gave his daughter in marriage to Jarha (q.v.), his Egyptian slave, and through this union the line was perpetuated (1 Chronicles 2:31; 1 Chronicles 2:34-35). B.C. post 1856.
