Hadassah
The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia
Earlier name of Esther, Mordecai's cousin (Esther 2:7). The name "Hadassah" occurs here only. It is not given by the Septuagint. In the Vulgate the name is given as "Edissa." See ESTHER.
