Austrian rabbi and Talmudist born at Nikolsburg, Moravia, Oct. 13, 1798 died there Jan. 30, 1856. He was educated at the yeshibah of his native city under Mordecai Benet , whose favorite disciple he was. He officiated as rabbi successively at Piesling, Leipnik, and Nikolsburg. In the last-named city, where he succeeded Samson Raphael Hirsch , he officiated only a few months. He was a rabbi of the old school, but was distinguished by a tolerant and kindly disposition. Of his literary works only some Talmudic novellæ are known, edited under the title "Ḥ okmat Shelomoh," in the collection "Harha-Mor," by Moses Lö b Kohn (Vienna, 1862).
