Shear-Jashub

The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

Son of the prophet Isaiah; so named by his father as a prophecy that God would restore the Remnant of His people or that "the remnants of Jacob shall return unto the mighty God" (Isaiah 10:21). Isaiah took his son with him when he went to meet Ahaz and to exhort him to trust in God and not to despair of victory over Rezin of Damascus and Pekah of Israel (Isaiah 7:1 et seq.).
