Tedeschi, Moses Isaac

Italian rabbi and poet; born at Piova, Piedmont, in 1817; died at Triest in1870. He removed to Vercelli with his father (d. 1836), who had been appointed rabbi there; and in 1838 he went to Turin to study under R. Hillel Cantoni. He was successively elected rabbi of Nizza-Monferrato, Saluzzo, Asti, and Triest. His principal poems were published by Vittorio Castiglione in the "Yelid Kinnor" (Drohobyez, 1886). He translated from the French "Les Prières d'un Cœur Israélite." Marco Tedeschi was celebrated as a preacher.
