Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

רָנָה i.q. רָנַן to give forth a tremulous or tinkling sound, to rattle, once used, Job 39:23, either of the arrows as rattling when the quiver is struck, or of the stridulous noise of an arrow when shot (Arab. رَنَّ), where אַשְׁפָּה is used for arrows. See Bochart, Hieroz. i, page 134; and Alb. Schultens, on Haririi Cons. i. page 11.
