 [שָׁקַק] verb run, run about, rush (apparently akin to √ I. שׁוק, whence שׁוֺק); —

Qal Imperfect 3 masculine plural בָּעִיר יָשֹׁקּוּ Joel 2:9, of locusts ("" יְרֻצוּן; > Gr proposes יִסְּקוּ from סלק); Participle שֹׁקֵק Isaiah 33:4, with ב of thing rush at, upon (like locusts); of roving, ranging bear Proverbs 28:15 (unless we read שָׁקוּל, Toy); figurative of נֶפֶשׁ longing for water Isaiah 29:8 ("" עָיֵם and, v a, רֵקָה), Psalm 107:9 ("" רְעֵבָה).

Hithpalpel Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִשְׁתַּקְשְׁקוּן Nahum 2:5, of chariots, they rush to and fro.

שָׁקַק fut. יָשֹׁק (cogn. to שׁוּק).

(1)  to run up and down, to run about, used especially of those who eagerly seek any thing; used of locusts [?], Joel 2:9; Isaiah 33:4 (followed by בְּ of prey); hence

(2) to be eager, greedy, thirsty, used of a bear, Proverbs 28:15 of a thirsty man, Isaiah 29:8; Psalms 107:9.

Hithpalpal הִשְׁתַּקְשַׁק i.q. Kal No. 1; Nahum 2:5.
