δυσφημ-ία, ἡ,
I ill language, esp. words of ill omen, κατεῖχε.. πᾶν στρατόπεδον δυσφημίαις S. Ph. 10, dub. in J. AJ 16.4.1: pl., curses, Plu. 2.587f, cf. Pel. 8; but, unsavoury details, Demetr. Eloc. 302.
II blasphemy, slander, D.H. 6.48, etc.
III ill fame, obloquy, S. Fr. 178 (pl.), Them. Or. 7.99c.
δυσφημία, δυσφημίας, ἡ, both the condition of a δύσφημος, i. e. of one who is defamed, viz. ill-repute, and the action of one who uses opprobrious language, viz. defamation, reproach: διά δυσφημίας καί εὐφημίας (A. V. by evil report and good report), 2 Corinthians 6:8. (1 Macc. 7:38; 3Macc. 2:26. Dionysius II. 6, 48; Plutarch, de gen. Socrates § 18, p. 587f.)
