The quasi-technical sense of this word = ";make an official report,"; as in Acts 23:15; Acts 23:22 (cf. 2 Maccabees 3:7), may be illustrated from P Magd 11.9 (B.C. 221) ἐθισμοῦ ὄντος, ἐάν τισιν τῶν ναυκλήρων τοιοῦτό τι συμβῆι, ἐμφανίζειν τοῖς ἐπὶ τῶν τόπων στρατηγοῖς, ib. 17.2 (B.C. 221) ἀποδόντος γάρ μου ] ἔντευξιν Διοφάνει τῶι στρατηγῶι, δι᾽ ἧς ἐνεφάν [ισα κτλ., ib. 26.11 (B.C. 217) ὡς ̣ δ ̣[ι ] ̣ τῆ [ς ] ἐντεύξε ̣ω ̣̓ς ̣ ἐμφανίζομεν, P Par 26.18 (petition from the Serapeum Twins—B.C. 163–2) (= Selections, p. 15) ὑμῖν, καθ᾽ ἃς ἐποεῖσθ᾽ ἐν Μέμφει παρουσίας, ἐνεφανίζομεν ὑπὲρ τούτων, ";we laid information on these matters before you, on the occasion of your visits to Memphis,"; PSI IV. 442.23 (iii/B.C.) ταῦτα δὲ ἐνεφάνισά σοι, ὅπως ἂν μηθείς σε παρακρούηται. Cf. the use of ἐμφανισμός in P Amh II. 33.12 (c.
