Smp. 3.1, Oec. 2.13; ᾄδειν καὶ κ. Phld. Mus. 7 K.; κιθαρίζειν οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι I am not a 'high-brow', Ar. V. 989, cf. 959; ἀρχαῖον εἶν' ἔφασκε τὸ κ. Id. Nu. 1357: prov., ὄνος κιθαρίζειν πειρώμενος, like ὄνος πρὸς λύραν (v. λύρα), Luc. Pseudol. 7; τὸ κιθαριζόμενον music composed for the cithara, Plu. 2.1144d.

Thayer's Expanded Definition

κιθαρίζω; present passive participle κιθαριζόμενος; to play upon the harp ((see the preceding word)): with ἐν ταῖς κιθάραις added (A. V. harping with their harps), Revelation 14:2; τό κιθαριζόμενον, what is harped, 1 Corinthians 14:7. (Isaiah 23:16; in the Greek writings from Homer, Iliad 18, 570 down.)
