Vocabulary of the Greek NT

κλέμμα of ";the object stolen"; is found in Syll 653.75 ff (Mystery inscr. from Andania—B.C. 91), where an interesting distinction is made between the fate of the ";free man"; and the ";slave";—ἂν δέ τις. . ἁλῶι εἴτε κεκλεβὼς εἴτε ἄλλο τι ἀδίκημα πεποιηκώς, ἀγέσθω ἐπὶ τοὺς ἱερούς, καὶ ὁ μὲν ἐλεύθερος ἄν κατακριθεῖ ἀποτινέτω διπλοῦν, ὁ δὲ δοῦλος μαστιγούσθω καὶ ἀποτεισάτω διπλοῦν τὸ κλέμμα. For κλεψιμαῖος (Tobit 2:13) see P Lend 422.3 (c. A.D. 350) (= II. p. 318) πωλήσας καμήλια κλεψιμεα (l. αῖα), ";having sold stolen camels.";
