II as a title, Majesty, ἡ σὴ μ. J. AJ 8.4.3, cf. CPHerm. 52.23 (iii A.D.); ἐν ταῖς μ. γενήσεται Vett.Val. 70.4; also, = Lat. majestas, ἡ μ. τοῦ Ῥωμαίων δήμου PGiss. 40i 11 (iii A.D.).

This subst., which occurs several times in the LXX and NT in the sense of ";majesty,"; is also found as a ceremonial title, e.g. CP Herm I..5/5 .1/6 i. 23 (= p. 21) ἡ μεγαλειότης τοῦ λαμπροτάτου ἡγεμόνος. With P Giss I. 40i. 11 (A.D. 212) εἰ [ς τὴν ] μεγαλειότητα [το ]ῦ Ῥωμα [ίων δήμου, cf. Lat. maiestas populi Romani.
