προκαταγγέλλω: 1 aorist προκατηγγελεια; perfect passive participle προκατηγγελμενος; to announce beforehand (that a thing will be): of prophecies — followed by an accusative with an infinitive Acts 3:18; τί, Acts 3:24 Rec.; περί τίνος, Acts 7:52. To pre-announce in the sense of to promise: τί, passive, 2 Corinthians 9:5 Rec. (Josephus, Antiquities 1, 12, 3; 2, 9, 4; ecclesiastical writings.)

προφέρω has the literal meaning; ";bring forth,"; ";produce,"; in its only occurrence in the NT, Luke 6:45. The verb lends itself readily to a variety of applications, as the following exx. will show—P Lond 21.18 (B.C. 162) (= 1. p. 13, UPZ I. p. 213) ὅσα καὶ ἡμεῖς προεφερόμεθα, ";all that we have also brought forward,"; P Amh II. 30.7 (ii/B.C.) δι᾽ οὗ προφέρ íοφερ ýεται [τὸν ἑαυτοῦ πατέρα Μ ]αρρῆν ἠγορακέναι [οἰκίαν, ";in which (sc. a legal declaration) he sets forth that his father Marres had bought a house,"; P Ryl II. 125.27 (A.D. 28–9) ὃς καὶ ὡμολ [ ]γησεν τὴν πυξίδα ὡς προφέρεται κενήν, ";moreover he acknowledges (having found) the box, but alleges that it was empty"; (Edd.), P Oxy X. 1282.25 (A.D. 83) Thnas προφέρεται, ";claims,"; that a right of execution for debt had descended to her, P Tebt II. 297.14 (c.
