";obedient,"; ";subject."; In a panegyrical inscr. found on a marble throne at Adule on the Red Sea, Ptolemy III, is described as τοὺς μονάρχους τοὺς ἐν τοῖς τόποις πάντας ὑπηκόους καταστήσας (OGIS 54.17–c. B.C. 247). Cf. CP Herm I. 52i. 18 (iii/A.D.) κατὰ τὴν ἔμφυτον αὐτοῦ πρὸς το [ὺς ὑπ ]ηκόους φιλανθρωπίαν, P Lond 46.165 (iv/A.D.) ( = I. p. 70) ὑπόταξόν μοι πάντα τὰ δημόνια, ἵνα μοι ἦν ὑπήκοος πᾶς δαίμων οὐράνιος, and ib. V. 1678.3 (A.D. 566–573)? δούλ ]ω ̣ν ἡμῶν καὶ ὑπηκόων. For ὑπήκοος c. dat., as in Acts 7:39, cf.
