Vocabulary of the Greek NT

Dittenberger, in his note on Syll 835.8 (iv/B.C., Elatea) [ὁ δᾶμ ]ος αἰνεῖ, observes that the use of the verb belongs to the older language. But Plutarch has it occasionally; and in the LXX it is four times as frequent as ἐπαινέω, especially in the sense of praising God.
