";Found neither in LXX nor in prof. auth.";, says Grimm. But P Lond 24.14 (B.C. 163) (= I. p. 32) τοῦτ [ο ] ἐπιτελέσασα ἱματιεῖ αὐτήν, BGU IV. 1125.8 (B.C. 13) ]μοῦ τρέφοντος καὶ ἱματίζοντος αὐτόν, P Tebt II. 385.15 (A.D. 117) Ἥρωνος ἱματίζοντος τὸν παῖδα, P Ryl II. 153.21 (A.D. 138–61) ἱματίζειν τὸν προγεγραμμένον μου υἱόν, and many exx. of the active = ";to provide clothing for,"; will dispel any idea that Mark (Mark 5:15) coined this word. Cf. also P Oxy II. 275.14 (A.D. 66) (= Selections, p. 56) τοῦ παιδὸς τρεφομένου καὶ ἱματισζομένου (l. ἱματιζ –) ἐπὶ τὸν ὅλον χρόνον ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός, in a contract of apprenticeship, and similarly ib.
