For this verb, which in the NT is confined to Acts 8:9, we may cite the expanded second table of the Decalogue in Didache ii. 2 οὐ μαγεύσεις, οὐ φαρμακεύσεις, ";thou shalt not practise magic, thou shalt not practise sorcery."; See also C. Clemen Myst. p. 10 (with n..3), a Greek-Aramaic inscr. on a στρατηγός —ἐμάγευσε Μίθρῃ. MGr μαγεύω, ";bewitch.";
