Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אֹזֶן dual (which is also used as plural) אָזְנַיִם, const. אָזְנֵי f. the ear, from the root אָזַן No. I. (Arab. أُذْنُ, أُذُنُ Eth. እዝን፡ Ch. אוּדֶן, אוּדְנָא, contr. אוּנָא, Syr. ܐܰܕܢܳܐ, ܐܶܕܢܳܐ) Exodus 29:20; Leviticus 8:23, etc. The phrases of which this word forms a part, are considered under the verbs גָּלָה, נָטָה Hiph., פָּתַח, כָּרָה. דִּבֶּר בְּאָזְנֵי פְלֹנִי “to speak in any one’s ears,” i.e. before him and in his hearing, Genesis 20:8, 23:16 44:18 Exodus 10:2. So Isaiah 5:9, בְּאָזְנָי יְהֹוָה “in my ears (said) Jehovah.” Compare 22:14. שׂוּם בְּאָזְנֵי פ״ “to place in any one’s ears,” to deliver something to be perceived by the ears, and to be laid up in the mind of any one, Exodus 17:14. שָׁמַע בְּאָזְנָיו “to hear with one’s ears,” emphatically, Psalms 44:2; Job 28:22.
