קִין not used in Kal; prob. to sing, Arab. قَيْنَةُ a female minstrel, a female singer, and any female slave (which may, however, be from the idea of possession; compare قَيْنُ a slave). [In Thes. “prob.

(1)  to strike upon (cogn. to זנָגַן).

(2)  to strike an instrument; hence, to sing to music.”]

Piel קוֹנֵן to sing a mourning song, 2 Samuel 1:17 followed by עַל and אֶל on account of any person or thing, 2 Samuel 3:33; Ezekiel 27:32.
