Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אֵב (from the root אָבַב) m. greenness, verdure of an herb; Job 8:12, עוֹדֶנּוּ בְאִבּוֹ “while it (the grass) is yet in its greenness,” i.e. is still verdant, flourishing; Song of Solomon 6:11, אִבֵּי הַנַּחַל “the greenness of the valley,” Vulg. poma, from the Chaldee usage. Arab. أَبُّ green fodder.

אֵב Ch. (from the root אָבַב) fruit; with suff. אִנְבֵּהּ (where Dagesh forte is resolved into Nun), Daniel 4:9, 11, 18. In Targg. often for פְּרִי.
