Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מִדַּד m. flight, from the root נָדַד (compare fut. תִּדַּד Genesis 31:40). Job 7:4, “when I lie down, I say, when shall I arise? וּמִדַּד עֶרֶב and (when) shall be the flight of the night?” Poet. for, when shall the night flee, come to an end? Others take מִדַּד as Pret. Piel from מָדַּד in an intrans. and intensitive sense, the night is extended [so taken in Thes.].
