 נֵד noun masculine Joshua 3:13 heap of waters; of Red Sea Exodus 15:8 (song), Psalm 78:13; of Jordan Joshua 3:13,16; Psalm 33:7 (simile). נֵד קָצִיר Isaiah 17:11 harvest-heap is perhaps corrupt: Ges Ew Di Du derive from נוד, reading (probably) נָד (Di) fled is the harvest; Che Hpt proposes לָכֵן therefore; Buhl Lex 13 עַד, after ᵐ5ᵑ7.

נֵד m. heap, pile (Arab. نَدُّ, from the root נדד نَدَّ, the significations of which are however rather remote from those of this word; [In Thes. from נוּד]); poet. used of the waves of the sea rising up like a heap. Psalms 33:7, כֹּנֵס כּנֵּד מֵי הַיָּם “piling up like a heap the waters of the sea;” similarly, Joshua 3:13, 16 Joshua 3:16, “the waters stood up (which were flowing down from above) נֵד אֶחָד like one heap;” compare Exodus 15:8; Psalms 78:13 in the same connection there is חוֹמָה a wall, Exodus 14:22. Compare Virg. Georg. iv. 316.
