Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

קוּר to dig, especially a well, Isaiah 37:25. (Arab. قار Med. Waw, to cut out from amongst. Kindred are כּוּר which see, נָקַר.) Derivatives, מָקוֹר [קוּדִים, קוֹרָה, קִיר, קַרְקֹר].

Hiphil, to cause to flow forth (water), Jerem. 6:7.

Pilpel קִרְקֵר to dig under, to undermine a wall (so the Chald.). Isaiah 22:5, by a play of words, מְקַרְקַר קִר “they undermine a wall” (Talmud. קרקורא דקיר destruction of a wall). Hence to destroy. Numbers 24:17, וְקַרְקַר כָּל־בְּנֵי־שֵׁת “and will destroy all the children of pride.” LXX. προνομεύσει. Vulg. vastabit.
