 [כָּסַף] verb long (for) (Arabic be colourless, obscure, be eclipsed (of sun or moon); also be depressed in appearance Ba Esther 61; modern Arabic disappoint; reflexive conjugations be disappointed, ashamed, see Spiro Vocab; Late Hebrew כסף Hiph`il shew pallor, be pale, white; Qal be ashamed, long for, compare Aramaic כְּסַף) —

Qal Imperfect 2 masculine singular יָדֶיךָ תִּכְסֹ֑ףלְמַעֲשֵׂה Job 14:15 for the work of thy hands thou wouldest long; 3 masculine singular כְּאַרְיֵה יִכְסוֺף לִטְרֹ֑ף Psalm 17:12 like a lion that longeth to rend.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

כָּסַף fut. יִכְסֹף

(1)  to become pale like the Ch. (More remote is the Arab. كسف and خسف to be eclipsed, as the sun or moon, to darken, as the eye, to be lessened.) Compare Niphal No. 1 and כֶּסֶף silver; hence

(2) to desire anything, followed by לְ of pers., Job 14:15 by a gerund, Psalms 17:12.

Niphal

(1) to become pale, through shame (as shame is not only marked by blushing, but also by paleness, see חָוַר and Talmud. הלבין, to put to shame, compare Comment. on Isaiah 29:22), to be put to shame. Zephaniah 2:1, הַגּוֹי לֹא נִכְסָף “a nation without shame,” impudent.
