שָׁבָה fut. apoc. יִשְׁבְּ to take, or lead away captive (Arab. سبا, Syr. ܫܒܐܳ id.), whether persons, Genesis 34:29; 1 Kings 8:48; Psalms 137:3 or flocks, 1 Chronicles 5:21 or else wealth, 2 Chronicles 21:17.- Genesis 31:26, שְׁבוּיוֹת חֶרֶב “captives of the sword” (in Greek, αἰχμάλωται, δορυάλωται), i.e. taken in war; compare 2 Kings 6:22.

Niphal, pass. of Kal, Genesis 14:14; Exodus 22:9.
