Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

גָּזַז to cut, as hay (see גֵּז ); specially to shear a flock, Genesis 31:19, 38:12 1 Samuel 25:4, 1 Samuel 25:7 the hair, as in mourning, Job 1:20; Micah 1:16 Syr., Ch., and Arab. جَزَّ id. (Kindred roots, all of which have the primary power of cutting, are גָּזָה, גָּזַם, גָּזַע, גָּזַל, גָּזַר and transp. גָּרַז, see under קָצַץ, חָצַץ, גָּדַד, חָדַד.) וַיָנָז Numbers 11:31 see under the root גּוּז.

Niphal נָגֹוז; pl. נָגוֹזּוּ to be shorn, used of enemies, i.e. to be cut off, to be slain, Nahum 1:12 compare as to the metaphor, Isaiah 7:20.
