תַּפּוּחַ m.

(1)  an apple (so called from its scent; root נָפַח compare Song of Solomon 7:9), Proverbs 25:11 also an apple tree, Song of Solomon 2:3, 8:5. (Arab. تُفَّاحُ an apple, not only a common one, but also the lemon, citron, etc.)

(2) [Tappuah], pr.n. (“a place fruitful in apples”).

(a) of a town in the tribe of Judah, Joshua 12:17, 15:34.

(b) on the confines of Ephraim and Manasseh, Joshua 16:8.
