THEN God said to Noah, Enter into the ark; you and all your household, for you alone have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,

Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou shalt preserve me and save me from this generation for ever.

This is the generation of them that seek thy face, that proclaim thy countenance, O thou God of Jacob.

This shall be written for the generation to come; and the people who shall be created shall praise the LORD.

Cut off your hair, Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high ways; for the LORD is angry and has forsaken this passing generation.

Then answered Haggai and said, So is this people and so is this generation before me, says the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

But to whom shall I liken this generation? It is like boys who sit in the street and call to their friends.

Even the men of Nineveh will rise up in judgment with this generation, and find it guilty; for they repented through the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

The queen of the south will rise up in judgment with this generation, and find it guilty; for she came from the far ends of the earth that she might hear Solomon''s wisdom, and behold a greater than Solomon is here.

Then it goes away and brings with it seven other spirits worse than itself, and they enter and live in it; and the end of that man becomes worse than at first. Such will happen to this evil generation.

Truly I say to you, All of these things shall come upon this generation.

Truly I say to you, that this generation will not pass away, until all these things happen.

And he sighed in his spirit and said, Why does this generation want a sign? truly I say to you, No sign will be given to this generation.

Whoever, therefore, is ashamed of me and of my words in this sinful and adulterous generation, the Son of man will also be ashamed of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with his holy angels.

Truly I say to you that this generation will not pass away, until all these things happen.

To whom, therefore, shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

And when the people were gathering, he began to say, This evil generation wants a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of man be to this generation.
