Mutual Delight in Each Other

¹ "^(F1)(C1)Where has your beloved gone,
O ^(C2)most beautiful among women?
Where has your beloved turned,
That we may seek him with you?"

² "^(F1)My beloved has gone down to his ^(C1)garden,
To the ^(C2)beds of balsam,
To ^(C3)pasture his flock in the gardens
And gather ^(C4)lilies.

³ "^(C1)I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine,
He who ^(C2)pastures his flock among the lilies."

⁴ "^(F1)(C1)You are as beautiful as ^(C2)Tirzah, my darling,
As ^(C3)lovely as ^(C4)Jerusalem,
As ^(C5)awesome as ^(F2)an army with banners.

⁵ "Turn your eyes away from me,
For they have confused me;
^(C1)Your hair is like a flock of goats
That have descended from Gilead.

⁶ "^(C1)Your teeth are like a flock of ewes
Which have come up from their washing,
All of which bear twins,
And not one among them has ^(F1)lost her young.

⁷ "^(C1)Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate
Behind your veil.

⁸ "There are sixty ^(C1)queens and eighty concubines,
And ^(F1)(C2)maidens without number;

⁹ But ^(C1)my dove, my perfect one, is ^(F1)unique:
She is her mother's ^(F1)only daughter;
She is the pure child of the one who bore her.
The ^(F2)(C2)maidens saw her and called her blessed,
The ^(C3)queens and the concubines also, and they praised her, saying,

¹⁰ 'Who is this that ^(F1)grows like the dawn,
As beautiful as the full ^(C1)moon,
As pure ^(C2)as the sun,
As ^(C3)awesome as ^(F2)an army with banners?'

¹¹ "I went down to the orchard of nut trees
To see the blossoms of the valley,
To see whether ^(C1)the vine had budded
Or the ^(C2)pomegranates had bloomed.

¹² "Before I was aware, my soul set me
Over the chariots of ^(F1)my noble people."

¹³ "^(F1)<,>^(F2)Come back, come back, O Shulammite;
Come back, come back, that we may gaze at you!"
"^(F3)Why should you gaze at the Shulammite,
As at the ^(C1)dance of ^(F4)(C2)the two companies?
