COMPARE THE INTRODUCTION TO Psalms 116
Verses 1-2
Ver. 1. Praise the Lord, all ye heathens, praise him all ye nations. Ver. 2. For his mercy over us was great, and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Hallelujah.
On exhortations addressed to the heathen to praise the Lord on account of his great deeds on behalf of Israel, comp. at Psalms 47:1, Psalms 66:8, Psalms 98:4. His truth endureth for ever—as the present instance shows. The emphatic way in which the salvation of the Lord is here spoken of, takes for granted that a full description of that salvation had preceded.
