1 Then what advantage F46 has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? 2 Great in every respect. First of all, that they R106 were entrusted with the oracles R107 of God. 3 What then? If some R108 did F47 not believe, their unbelief F48 will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? 4 May R109 it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a R110 liar, as it is written,
"THAT R111 YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS,
AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE F49 JUDGED." 5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates R112F50 the righteousness of God, what R113 shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I R114 am speaking in human terms.) 6 May R115 it never be! For otherwise, how will God R116 judge the world? 7 But if through my lie the R117 truth of God abounded to His glory, why R118 am I also still being judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), "Let R119 us do evil that good may come"? Their F51 condemnation is just.
9 What then? Are R120F52 we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews R121 and Greeks R122 are all R123 under sin; 10 as it is written,
"THERE R124 IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
18 "THERE R129 IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES."
19 Now we know that whatever the Law R130 says, it speaks to those R131 who are under F53 the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all R132 the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by R133 the works of F54 the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through R134F55 the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
Justification by Faith
21 But now apart from F56 the Law theR135 righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed R136 by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness R137 of God through faith R138 in R139 Jesus Christ for all R140 those who F57 believe; for there R141 is no distinction; 23 for all have R142F58 sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by R143 His grace through the R144 redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a R145 propitiation F59 in R146F60 His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because F61 in the forbearance R147 of God He passed R148 over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has F62 faith in Jesus.
27 Where then is boasting? R149 It is excluded. By what R150 kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For F63 we R151 maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of F64 the Law. 29 Or is R152 God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God R153 who R154 will justify the circumcised F65 by F66 faith and the uncircumcised F67 through faith is R155 one.
31 Do we then nullify the F68 Law through faith? May R156 it never be! On the contrary, we establish R157 the Law.
