Baale
Holman Bible Dictionary
(KJV), BAALE-JUDAH (NAS, NRSV) (Bale-judah) Place name meaning, “Baals of Judah” or “lords of Judah.” 2 Samuel 6:2 may be read as “from the lords of Judah” or as went from Baale Judah. If the latter reading is correct, then Baale Judah is a place name where the ark of the covenant was before David took it to Jerusalem. 1 Chronicles 13:6 calls the place Baalah of Judah and identifies it with Kirjath-jearim. See Kirjath-jearim .
