Blasting
Holman Bible Dictionary
Reference to the hot east winds which blow across Palestine for days at a time (Deuteronomy 28:22 KJV and RSV; other versions read “blight”). This blasting wind dries up vegetation and ruins crops ( Isaiah 37:27; see Psalm 90:5-6; Psalm 102:3-4; Isaiah 40:6-8 ). This wind represents one of the great natural calamities (1 Kings 8:37; 2 Chronicles 6:28 ) and one of the judgments of God upon the disobedient (Deuteronomy 28:22; Amos 4:9; Haggai 2:17 ).
