Holman Bible Dictionary
(hay' zahr-sshyoo' uhl) Place name meaning, “encampment of the foxes.” Town near Beersheba in tribal territory of Judah (Joshua 15:28 ) but allotted to tribe of Simeon (Joshua 19:3; 1 Chronicles 4:28 ). Jews returning from Exile in Babylon lived there (Nehemiah 11:27 ). It may be modern khirbet el-Watan.
