Shen
Holman Bible Dictionary
(sshehn) Place name meaning, “the tooth.” Locality used to locate Eben-ezer (1 Samuel 7:12 ), translated and interpreted variously since the earliest translations. It may refer to a prominent hill or mountain shaped like a tooth. Early translations read it as “Jeshanah” (REB, NRSV), but that appears to be too far east for the context. Some early translators read, “Beth-shan.” The exact location is debated and uncertain.
