Holman Bible Dictionary
(sshoh' uh) National name meaning, “help!” Nation God used to punish His people (Ezekiel 23:23 ). They are usually identified with the Sutu, a nomadic people from the Syrian and Arabian desert known from documents from Mari, Amarna, and Assyria. Some commentators see them mentioned in Isaiah 22:5 , where most translate, “crying.”
