Zalmon
Holman Bible Dictionary
(zal' mahn) Place and personal name meaning, “little dark one” or “small image.” 1. Mountain near Shechem where Abimelech and his men cut brush with which to burn the tower of Shechem (Judges 9:48-49 ). 2 . One of David's “thirty” mighty men (2 Samuel 23:28 ). He is also known as Ilai (1 Chronicles 11:29 ). 3 . Psalm 68:14 mentions a “hill of Bashan” named Zalmon (KJV, “Salmon”). This may refer to the Golan Heights.
