Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible

MAW. This Old Eng. word for the stomach is used by AV [Note: Authorized Version.] in Deuteronomy 18:3 , and by RV [Note: Revised Version.] in Jeremiah 51:34 . Coverdale tr. [Note: translate or translation.] 1 Kings 22:34 , ‘A certayne man bended his bowe harde and shott the kynge of Israel betwene the mawe and the longes.’
