Morrish Bible Dictionary
χοι>κός. A characteristic of man as made out of the earth, ofdust. 1 Corinthians 15:47-49 . "The first man is of the earth, earthy," in contrast to "the second man, out of heaven." A man cannot rise morally above the earth except by the power of God in new creation.
