Anammelech
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
(Babylonian: Anu is prince)
A god, whose worship the Sepharvites introduced and perpetuated in Samaria, after the overthrow of the Kingdom of Israel and the capture of the capital by Sargon, King of Assyria (4Kings 17); probably another name for the Babylonian god Anu. To Anammelech the Sepharvites offered their children in holocaust.
