Virgin, martyr (Barcelona, 304). This Spanish martyr, of the persecution of Diocletian is often identified with Eulalia of Merida, although there is sufficient evidence of separate identities. Numerous villages of Guienne and Languedoc are named for her, and she is known under various titles: Saint Eulalie, Saint Olaire, Saint Olacie, Saint Occille, Saint Olaille, and Saint Auzalie. Patroness of Barcelona and of sailors; invoked against drouth. Emblems: a palm, and cross in hand. Canonized, 633. Her relics were preserved at Barcelona. Feast, February 12,.
