(n.) A place for saluting or greeting; a vestibule; a porch.

(n.) The salutatory oration.

(a.) Containing or expressing salutations; speaking a welcome; greeting; - applied especially to the oration which introduces the exercises of the Commencements, or similar public exhibitions, in American colleges.
