(bihn' nyoo i) Personal name meaning, “built.” 1. A Levite who assured the Temple treasures Ezra brought back from Exile were correctly inventoried (Ezra 8:33 ). 2 . Two men who divorced foreign wives when Ezra sought to remove temptation to idolatry and purify the community (Ezra 10:30 ,Ezra 10:30,10:38 ). 3 . Man who helped Nehemiah repair the wall of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3:24 ). 4 . Clan leader of 648 members who returned with Zerubbabel from Babylon about 537 B.C. (Nehemiah 7:15; Ezra 2:10 —spells it “Bani” with 642 people). 5. Levite who sealed Nehemiah's covenant to obey God's law (Nehemiah 10:9 ). Could be same as any of the above. He came up with Zerubbabel from Babylonian Exile (Nehemiah 12:8 ).
