Kadmiel
Holman Bible Dictionary
(kad' mih ehl) Personal name meaning, “God is of old” or “God goes before.” 1. Levite who returned from the Babylonian Exile with Zerubbabel. A representative of the line of Hodaviah (Ezra 2:40; Nehemiah 7:43 has Hodevah), also known as the line of Judah ( Ezra 3:9 ). Helped rebuild the Temple. 2. Levite who helped Ezra in the reaffirmation of the covenant after the return from the Exile (Nehemiah 9:4-5 ). 3 . Levite who signed the covenant after the Exile (Nehemiah 10:9 ). The relationship between these persons is unclear. They may all represent the same person or be father and son.
